With Covid-19 and social distancing still impacting on our daily lives, our annual general meeting went online via Zoom.
Thank you to all those attended the meeting, it was great to see some familiar faces we have not seen in a while.
The message of the AGM was Community Spirit something the Foodbank is fortunate to benefit from. The local community continues to show strength and great spirit during these difficult times but as we reflect on the last year at the foodbank, the support and generosity from local businesses, schools, shops and general public has been outstanding.
During April 2019 – March 2020 we issued 1,542 vouchers, which helped 2,217 adults and 1,350 Children.
Special thanks to Toll Gavel Church, Tickton Village, Beverley Westwood Lions Club, Beverley Town Mayor, Duncan Jack, Tesco Beverley, ASDA Kingswood, Waltham Lane Neighbourhood and the Holiday Inn Marina to name but a few.
A special mention to Dawn Patrick, Tracey Huckleberry and the Holiday Inn Marina for their huge support over the Christmas period with the donation of advent calendars, 300 canvas bags and a car boot full of food donations.
We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the great partnerships we have with local advisory and government agencies to ensure we are able to reach those who need our services. It is essential these partnerships continue to enable those in need to be able to find stability and solutions to the issues they face.
We have seen Trustees leave us over the last 12 months and welcomed new ones. Thank you to those for their support and guidance during this time. A special mention of our former Chair Annmarie Foster who retired in February, a huge thank you to Annmarie for all that she achieved for the Foodbank during her time, from the raising of the profile of the foodbank at countless networking events, 200 Club, we wish her well in her retirement.
Thank you to all the volunteers who work week in week out to support the foodbank, a special mention to Elaine Young, Peter Webb and Andrew Davis for going above and beyond over the 2019 Christmas period. Also thank you to Richard Newby for his continued dedication and hard work for the Foodbank.
We look forward to being able to continue to make a difference to adults and children in food poverty during the coming year. This is only possible with the continued support of individuals and businesses in East Yorkshire.
Thank you.
